Project Description
For this project, Biomass Silo Systems were chosen to supply a 120m3 capacity malt silo for an £18 million whiskey distillery development called Ardross Distillery, 30 miles north of Inverness.
The converted nineteenth century farmhouse will be capable of producing up to 1 million liters of spirit a year when fully operational.
Following an initial site visit our engineers designed up a silo to meet the precise requirements of the customer. The silo was to contain two storage compartments with outlets to allow integration with a belt conveyor which was to be installed by another contractor.
The silo contained an access ladder, mezzanine floor and protective railings to allow access to the roof of the silo for periodic cleaning and maintenance of both the silo and bucket elevator feeder.
Our on site assembly team built the silo over the course of three weeks before handing it over to the main contractor
